$3.00/lb “hanging weight” which is established the day they go to the butcher (paid to Konoske’s)

AND the processing fee to the butcher. 

They are being processed at Pioneer Meats in Big Timber, MT. 

(We deliver the animals…you pick up your meat when it is ready)

If you are getting 1/2 a beef, expect to pay 1/2 of the slaughter fee, plus the 0.67 cents per pound.    See their pricing here.

 

 

FAQ:

How much meat can I expect out of a beef?    Expect around 200# for a half a beef.  Please note that these are just averages from years past.  If the animal’s starting weight is a little smaller than usual, or a little bigger, then it will affect the end result. 

How much meat does a family of 4 need?  It depends but let’s start with an equation you can use.  How much beef do you eat per week currently?  (Including burger, stew meat, steaks, etc and not including pork, fish, chicken, lamb.)  Now take that number and multiply it x 52 weeks of the year and you’ll be close!   Johny and I probably eat 3#/week.  Some weeks we eat less, or are out of town, but we love having extra meat for entertaining so it likely averages out. 

Can I buy 1/4 of a beef?  No.  If you want to purchase a half of the beef and split it with someone, that is a great solution. 

Will you ship beef?  Sorry, but no. 

How long is this available?    We have a date with Pioneer Meats for early April and it takes about 3 weeks start to finish.  

When will the beef be ready?   Late April  

What makes your beef best?  

  • It’s local (if you are here in Montana).
  • It’s important to know where your food comes from!
  • I eat it too! 
  • It’s never ever grain fed, even at finishing. 
  • It saves you TONS of money.  If you haven’t noticed, buying a grass fed steak at the grocery store can easily run $19/lb.  And grass fed burger has been running $7/lb.    When it’s all said and done, you should end up paying about $5.75/lb average, depending on how much waste there is.  So your burger is less than retail and you save A LOT of $$$ on steaks, roasts, brisket, etc.
