Chronic Illness: How Quitting Your Job Might Save Your Life

Earlier this month, I met a man who has MS (Multiple Sclerosis).  It’s an auto immune disease with progressive outcomes.  As we visited, he mentioned he was a welder.  Ahhh.  It’s starting to make sense.  I haven’t even seen his full medical history but I can already start connecting dots.  As we continued to talk, he mentioned one of his welding buddies ALSO has MS.  Both men probably inherited some genetic mutations and don’t detoxify well…and then they took jobs where they were exposed to an unusual burden of toxicants.

My mom’s Fibromyalgia set in after a weekend of painting.  A colleague’s brother has never been the same after a summer spraying lawns.  In my own life, my health suffered after an auto accident at age 24.  I walked away with a sore neck but was put on a plethora of drugs and have never been sicker.  How about the sick soldier exposed to vaccinations and gulf war chemicals?   All coincidences?  I think not.  It comes down to the ability to detoxify.  The bucket was already brimming and then bamm…it overflows and we’re sick.

As I sit back and think about all of these real life examples………and all the kids whose personalities changed the day after a vaccination………and the cleaning ladies who have auto-immune diseases………it makes me wonder when we’ll ALL get genetic testing and counseling before going into a “hazardous” profession.

I wonder when ALL kids will get a genetic panel to determine his/her ability to detoxify BEFORE he/she undergoes a series of  immunizations.

I wonder WHEN the surgeon will order time in an infrared sauna, broccoli, and blueberries after surgery and anesthesia.

I wonder when we’ll move away from “one size fits all” medicine and a doctor would order a genetic panel before prescribing and dosing medications.

It might sound like futuristic medicine but it’s already here. We have the ability. We can’t change genetics but if we know that Phase 1 or Phase 2 of liver detoxification is impaired, or both…..we can compensate with lifestyle choices.  We can choose organic food, not fast food.  We can be a teacher, not a fireman.  That is exactly what my 4-week detox lifestyle series is all about.

I wonder when – and if – you’ll take the time to learn what you can do to prevent your own health catastrophe.

If we know better, we can do better.

Check our my 4-part Detox E-Course series before you have another label and ICD-9 code in your medical chart!

 About Tracy Konoske, MS, RDN

meet_tracyTracy Konoske is an eclectic clinician and uses a blend of natural, integrative, functional, and personalized medicine to help her patients feel their best.  Tracy understands that there are 4 drivers of chronic disease:  Toxins, Infections, Stress, and Diet.  And it's often a combination of all 4 that lead to a chronic health condition, and thus it takes a treatment plan addressing each of the 4 to resolve and reclaim good health.  Tracy has recovered from 2 "perfect storm" situations which had drastic effects on her health and led to multiple mystery illnesses and diagnosis including Lyme.

By reducing the burden of these triggers, Tracy is successfully resolving:

  • Fatigue (anemia's, adrenals, thyroid-related, chronic fatigue syndrome, ME-CFS)
  • Auto Immune Conditions (Hashimoto's, Lupus, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Celiac)
  • Mental Health Conditions (anxiety, depression, OCD, ADD/ADHD)
  • Cognitive Dysfunction (trouble concentrating, forgetfulness, symptoms of early Alzheimer's)
  • Digestive Disorders (low hydrochloric acid, "leaky gut", Candida Albicans, Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth SIBO, IBS, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Migraines and chronic headaches
If you've one or more of the above-mentioned conditions, or have been told you have Lyme or chronic Lyme,  there's a good chance you are in the right place. If you have a history of chronic sore throats, tonsillitis or tonsillectomy, mononucleosis, glandular fever, shingles, and/or cold sores, there's a good chance you are in the right place.

There are no coincidences.  All good things come from God.
